Bolton’s Drug Intervention Programme (DIP) aims to help drug users who are committing drug-related crime to get out of crime and in to treatment to break the cycle of

Everybody can benefit from the DIP programme:
- drug using offenders can get help through treatment and support
- communities suffer less crime
- the tax payer saves money as criminal justice costs are reduced.
Treatment for drug using offenders is not a soft option. It is ordered by the courts and involves very strict monitoring. If the person doesn’t comply with the treatment order, they can be taken back to court and re-sentenced for their original crime.
